Este es un curso elemental de ruso diseñado para adultos que empiezan a estudiarlo. Puede emplearse con o sin profesor. Para hacerlo adecuado para el estudio personal sin tutor, las explicaciones teóricas, las notas sobre la historia, geografía y cultura rusa, así como las tareas para los ejercicios están escritas en inglés.
El curso está diseñado para ayudar a los alumnos a comunicarse con rusos sobre temas estudiados en el curso, a expresar sus pensamientos en ruso con la base de gramática y vocabulario aprendido, a entender el habla, a leer y a contar textos simples, a traducir textos más difíciles y a preparar informes orales o escritos sobre diferentes tópicos.
El libro consta de seis capítulos: un curso corto fonético, un diccionario pictórico de unidades léxicas concretas; la parte principal consta de 33 unidades, clichés del discurso convencional ruso, claves para ejercicios y un vocabulario general Ruso-Inglés.

This is an elementary Russian course designed for the adult beginners. It can be studied both with and without a teacher. To make it suitable for an independent study, the theoretical explanations, the notes on Russian history, geography and culture and assignments for the exercises are given in English.
The course is designed to help the students to communicate with Russians on topics studied in the course, to express their thoughts in Russian on the basis of the grammar and vocabulary studied, to understand oral speech, to read and retell simple texts, to translate more diffi cult texts and prepare oral or written reports on given topics.
The book consists of six chapters: a short phonetic course, a pictorial dictionary of concrete vocabulary units; the main part consists of 33 units, Russian conventional speech clichés, keys to the exercises and a general Russian-English vocabulary.
